Choices for Patients and Families

CareResource Hawaii offer a variety of home and community health care options for people who need assistance at home.

The chart below indicates some of the differences between Private Duty care and Licensed, Medicare Certified services. We invite you to call for additional information or individualized consultation.

	PRIVATE DUTY	* MEDICARE CERTIFIED
Caregivers	Registered Nurses Licensed Practical Nurses Home Health Aides	Registered Nurses Physical Therapists Speech Therapists Medical Social Workers Home Health Aides
Types of Care	Bathing, personal care, housekeeping, travel aide Professional services also available	Professional caregivers for wound care, IV therapy, diabetic teaching; and other skilled nursing services. Rehabilitation services including Physical, Occupational and Speech therapies. Social service consultations and personal care provided in association with skilled care services.
Care is Requested by	Patient or Family	Patient, family or physician. Physician's order required.
Billing	By the hour	By visit
Insurance	Usually Not Covered	Private Insurance Medicare Medicaid
